We are not a high-volume, insurance-driven practice, we focus on thoroughness and quality. We are a relationship-based dental home where your health, comfort, and goals always come first. You will be treated with respect, compassion, and honesty. We are very good at running on time, since we are not volume driven we schedule enough time for each patient. We also do not double book.
Here’s what we do to make your dental visits more comfortable.
It starts with our TEAM, even before you arrive at your appointment time.
Your first contact by phone, email, text or in person will usually be with Cheri, our office manager, and begins with a conversation to get to know you and your needs. Cheri started her dental career as an assistant, then moved to the front desk, took some time off to raise 6 children and has been our office manager for the last 15 years. She is so kind and empathetic you will feel very comfortable speaking with her. She has a deep knowledge of dentistry and enough experience so that she will know the answers to your questions and concerns.
The next team members you will meet will either be with Bridget, Dr. McCurry’s chairside dental assistant or Raelynne, Dr. McCurry’s dental hygienist. Everyone is cross trained and can do a New Patient exam visit.
Bridget’s dental career started over 3 years ago, Raelynne started her dental hygiene career over 30 years ago.
They will gather some baseline information, medical history, blood pressure, and current dental concerns. Then they will gather the appropriate radiographs. Once this basic information is gathered, they will introduce you to me, Dr. McCurry.
I have been practicing dentistry for 37 years and treated well over 110,000 patients, I also have significant amounts of advanced training including:
- MAGD – Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction held by less than 2% of dentists in North America
- Fellowship at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, focused on advanced bite, TMJ, and cosmetic dentistry
This means you will receive care that is both compassionate and highly skilled.
Before we look at anything, we will want to understand:
- Your past dental experiences
- What you like and don’t like about dentistry
- Any fears or concerns
- What you want your oral health and smile to feel and look like
Some people want to chew comfortably again.
Some want to stop things from getting worse.
Some want a more confident smile.
Some want all the above
There is no right or wrong answer- your goals guide everything we do.
One thing you will never experience at Whitney Plaza Dental is judgment. We don’t believe in making people feel bad about their teeth. We exist to help people get healthy. Dentistry as a profession has improved dramatically over the last 50 years, we can cure and repair situations we could never do before. We have better understanding, science, materials and techniques.
If you don’t like going to the dentist, sadly we understand. Fortunately, the reason is that usually it is as simple as you were going to the wrong dentist. We will help you to be able to trust again and not fear dentistry.
At Whitney Plaza Dental, your first visit is not about pressure, it’s about understanding, education, and building a path toward long-term health. We look forward to helping you feel confident, comfortable, and proud of your smile. We are honored to be part of your journey, thank you for your time and choice as your dental home.
