Choosing a new dental office is a big decision, especially if you’ve had uncomfortable experiences in the past or if it’s been a long time since your last visit. At Whitney Plaza Dental, we understand that walking through the door can come with anxiety, uncertainty, or even fear. That’s why everything we do is built around one simple idea:
You deserve to be treated with respect, compassion, and honesty.
We are not a high-volume, insurance-driven practice. We are a relationship-based dental home where your health, comfort, and goals always come first.
Here’s what your first visit with us looks like.
We Start with You, Not Your Teeth
Your first appointment begins with a conversation—not a dental exam.
Before we look at anything, we want to understand:
- Your past dental experiences
- What you like and don’t like about dentistry
- Any fears or concerns
- What you want your smile and oral health to look like
Some people want to chew comfortably again.
Some want to stop things from getting worse.
Some want a more confident smile.
There is no right or wrong answer—your goals guide everything we do.
One thing you will never experience here is judgment. We don’t believe in making people feel bad about their teeth. We exist to help people get healthy.
Our Philosophy: Getting You to “Maintenance-ville”
My goal for every patient is to get them to a place I call “Maintenance-ville.”
That’s where you come in, we evaluate your oral health, and we get to say:
“Everything looks great—keep doing what you’re doing. We’ll see you in six months.”
That’s what real success looks like. No constant repairs. No emergencies. No surprises—just stable, healthy teeth and gums that stay that way.
We get there through education, prevention, and personalized care.
A Complete, Gentle, and Thorough Exam
Your first visit includes a comprehensive oral health evaluation. Evaluation includes:
- Cavities and worn teeth
- Gum disease and bone loss
- Infections
- Oral cancer
- Bite and jaw problems
- Airway and sleep function
- Posture
We also examine your jaw joints and facial muscles, because many people suffer from headaches, jaw pain, or clenching without realizing their teeth and bite may be part of the problem.
As we go, we explain what we see in simple, easy-to-understand language—no confusing dental jargon.
Seeing Is Believing: Intraoral Photos
We use small digital cameras to take photos inside your mouth. This allows you to actually see what we’re talking about. When patients can see cracked teeth, worn edges, or inflamed gums for themselves, it takes the guesswork out of decisions. We believe in co-diagnosis—you and us working together with the same information. We don’t just look—we explain. In Latin “Doctor” (docere) means “to teach”. We will show you what we’re seeing and what it means so nothing feels mysterious or overwhelming. Knowledge is power!
Modern Digital Imaging for Better, Safer Care
We use digital X-rays, which use significantly less radiation than older film systems and give us clearer and more diagnostic images.
We also have a 3-D CBCT scanner, which allows us to see your teeth, jawbone, sinuses, and airway in remarkable detail. This helps us understand better your:
- Jaw structure
- Bone health
- Tooth roots
- Sinus position
- Airway size
- Implant or surgical needs
It allows for safer, more precise, and more predictable care.
A Comfortable Consultation—Not in the Dental Chair
After we gather all the information, we move to a comfortable consultation area—not the dental chair.
Here we:
- Review your photos and scans
- Explain what’s healthy
- Show you what needs attention
- Talk about options and priorities
- Answer all your questions
We also go over ideal home care, including proper sonic toothbrush use and techniques that can dramatically improve gum health and prevent future problems. I have not had a cavity in 51 years- I want that for you – we will teach you how!
Looking Beyond Teeth: Sleep, Breathing, and Jaw Health
Your mouth is connected to your entire body. Jaw position, tongue posture, and airway size can affect:
- Snoring
- Sleep quality
- Daytime fatigue
- Jaw pain
- Headaches
In many patients, dental anatomy plays a role in sleep apnea and breathing issues. When appropriate, we discuss treatment options that can improve not just oral health—but overall health and quality of life.
Care That Is Honest, Personalized, and Affordable
We believe in:
- Preventing problems before they start
- Treating what truly matters
- Avoiding unnecessary dentistry
- Making care affordable and predictable
Our job is not to sell you dentistry to help you reach and stay in Maintenance-ville.
A Note About Your Dentist
I’ve been practicing general dentistry for over 37 years, and I’ve never stopped learning. My training includes:
- MAGD – Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, a distinction held by less than 2% of dentists in North America
- Fellowship at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, focused on advanced bite, TMJ, and cosmetic dentistry
This means you receive care that is both compassionate and highly skilled, using the most modern techniques available.
At Whitney Plaza Dental, your first visit is not about pressure, it’s about understanding, education, and building a path toward long-term health. We look forward to helping you feel confident, comfortable, and proud of your smile. We are honored to be part of your journey.
